BRANFORD, CT — A 19-year-old man was arrested following an investigation involving threats, firearms and narcotics, police said Tuesday.
David Morande, of Branford, was taken into custody after officers responded to a North Main Street apartment on Dec. 2.
A family member had contacted police with concerns about Morande’s wellbeing, including suicidal comments and homicidal threats toward another person, according to the Branford Police Department.
Officers detained Morande for safety reasons when they made contact with him.
Police observed two loaded firearms, narcotics and drug-related packaging in plain view.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and seized a stolen AR-15 style rifle with a high-capacity magazine, a Glock 23 pistol with a high-capacity magazine, a SCCY 9mm pistol, cocaine, oxycodone, marijuana, codeine promethazine solution and materials consistent with the sale of narcotics.
Morande was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Upon his release, he was charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics, operation of a drug factory, illegal possession of high-capacity magazines, illegal possession of an assault weapon and carrying a firearm under the influence.
He was held on $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Dec. 3.
