NORTHAMPTON, MA — Rosa Murillo, 27, of Springfield, pleaded guilty Monday to robbing the Westfield Bank on Willimansett Street in South Hadley.
Hampshire Superior Court Judge Jane E. Mulqueen sentenced Murillo to 4-5 years in state prison after accepting her guilty plea to one count of unarmed robbery and one count of making a bomb/hijack threat.
The charges stem from a December 2024 incident in which Murillo demanded cash from a bank teller while claiming she had a bomb strapped to her.
She was apprehended by police two days later and has remained held on bail since.
A Hampshire County Grand Jury indicted Murillo in February.
Murillo will be on probation for two years after her release from prison, during which she must complete a substance abuse evaluation and treatment, submit to random drug screening, and stay away from all Westfield Bank locations.
Murillo received credit for the 352 days she has remained held since her arrest.
The sentence was jointly recommended by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Covington and defense attorney Everald Henry.
