MOORES, NY — New York State Police arrested a 43-year-old man on multiple charges following a domestic violence incident on Nov. 29.
Joshua B. Dapo, of Ellenburg Depot, was charged with criminal mischief, assault 3rd degree, menacing 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree and unlawful imprisonment 2nd degree.
At approximately 11:23 a.m., state police members interviewed a victim of domestic violence.
The investigation determined that a verbal altercation had occurred on Canaan Road in the town of Moores.
During the incident, Dapo and the victim became involved in a physical altercation.
Dapo struck the victim, restrained them, damaged property within the residence and brandished a firearm while making threatening remarks.
The victim was eventually able to calm Dapo, who then put the firearm away.
A second altercation later occurred while both were inside a vehicle.
The victim was able to exit the vehicle and seek safety inside a nearby store.
Dapo left the area but was later located, arrested and transported to SP Champlain for processing.
He was arraigned in the Town of Ellenburg Court and released on his own recognizance.
