Lima man arrested on burglary charges in Avon

AVON, NY — A Lima man faces multiple felony charges following a burglary investigation in the Town of Avon.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Avon on Sept. 17 to investigate allegations of a burglary.

Deputies met with the victim, who reported that someone had broken into his residence and outbuildings on the property.

The victim reported more than $20,000 worth of items were missing.

On Nov. 26, Sheriff’s Investigator Martin Herkimer arrested Christopher Elardo, 48, of Lima.

Elardo was charged with felony second-degree burglary, felony third-degree burglary, felony third-degree grand larceny and felony third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Elardo was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Village of Mt. Morris Justice Finnigan.

The judge released Elardo on his own recognizance under pre-trial services.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Elardo at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office appeared to represent the People.
