Man arrested on fraud charges in Scituate

SCITUATE, RI — A Providence man was arrested on multiple fraud charges following an investigation by Rhode Island State Police.

Troopers arrested Rhony Barrias Sanchez, 23, of Providence, on Monday at 12:21 p.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant.

Sanchez faces charges of obtaining property under false pretenses, fraudulent use of credit cards and receipt of money, goods and services obtained by fraudulent use of credit cards.

The charges originated from the Rhode Island State Police Intelligence Unit.

The Cranston Police Department located Sanchez and transferred custody to state police.

Sanchez was transported to the Rhode Island State Police Scituate Barracks where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was later turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution Men’s Intake pending morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.

In a separate incident Monday at 10:52 p.m., troopers arrested Marc H. Charles, 51, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, for driving under the influence of liquor with a blood alcohol content of .08-.10, first offense.

The arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Route 295 in Lincoln.

Charles recorded breath test results of .098 in phase one and .090 in phase two.

He was transported to the State Police Scituate Barracks where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

Charles was released to the custody of a responsible adult.
