Police seek help identifying package theft suspect in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who stole a package from a residential porch on Nov. 26.

The suspect, captured on surveillance video, took the package at approximately 1:32 p.m. from a home in the 50 block of Hazelwood Avenue, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr.

The suspect walked away northbound on Hazelwood Avenue towards Fortuna Street.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slim build and a fair-skinned complexion.

He wore a black ski mask, black-framed eyeglasses, a stone-washed jean jacket and white Air Force One sneakers.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
