KENNEBUNK, ME — Maine State Police arrested a driver early Thursday following a high-speed pursuit that began in New Hampshire and ended on the Maine Turnpike.

Just after midnight, Maine State Police received a call from the New Hampshire State Police requesting assistance in a pursuit of a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The driver, Matthew Olsen, 44, of Harrison, had refused to stop for a local police department in New Hampshire due to speeding and erratic driving.

During the chase in New Hampshire, Olsen rammed one of the New Hampshire State Police cruisers, according to authorities.

Maine troopers took over the pursuit when Olsen entered Maine on the Turnpike.

The chase continued northbound until Olsen drove over a curb at the Kennebunk Rest Area, damaging his tires before returning to Interstate 95.

Troopers successfully disabled Olsen’s truck using the Precision Immobilization Technique.

Olsen was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence, Eluding an Officer, Reckless Conduct, and Criminal Speed.

He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution before being transported to the York County Jail.
