Man arrested on domestic assault charge in Vershire

VERSHIRE, VT — State police arrested a Hartford man following a reported domestic assault inside a moving vehicle on Route 113.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:57 a.m. on Nov. 28.

Police determined that while the vehicle was in motion, Jody Sears, 39, of Hartford, placed the operator, a family member, in a neck restraint resulting in pain and endangering the occupants of the vehicle.

Sears was arrested at the scene and transported to the Bradford State Police Outpost for processing.

He was subsequently lodged for violation of his probation.

Sears is currently being held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury.

He was also issued a citation to appear on Dec. 1 to answer to charges of domestic assault and reckless endangerment.

Troopers were assisted by Fairlee Police Department, members of the Vershire Fire Department and Upper Valley Ambulance.
