Two arrested on drug charges in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Two men were arrested following the execution of multiple search and seizure warrants on Nov. 26.

Members of the Waterbury Police Department’s Vice and Intelligence Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, Gang Task Force, and Auto Theft Task Force executed warrants for 127 Central Avenue, Floor 1, a 2014 Honda Accord, and for the person of Winston Spence, 36, of Waterbury.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., officers observed Winston Spence operating his Honda Accord in the area of 64 Bishop Street.

After Winston Spence exited the vehicle, officers attempted to make contact with him.

Winston Spence fled on foot to the rear of the building but was apprehended without incident.

During the investigation, officers seized 7,408 bags of heroin, $6,092 in U.S. currency, and 72.6 grams of crack cocaine with an approximate street value of $41,000.

Winston Spence was charged with interfering with an officer, operating a drug factory, tampering with physical evidence, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, possession of more than 1 ounce of heroin/fentanyl, operating a motor vehicle with insufficient insurance, and possession of more than 1/2 ounce of cocaine in free base form.

Andre Spence, 33, of Waterbury, was charged with operating a drug factory, possession of more than 1 ounce of heroin/fentanyl, and possession of more than 1/2 ounce of cocaine in free base form.
