GREENWICH, CT — A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Greenwich financial institution that occurred more than eight years ago.

Jose Luis Martinez, 36, was taken into custody on Nov. 24 at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, where he was serving time on unrelated charges.

Greenwich Police responded to the armed robbery at a financial institution on Mason Street on Jan. 25, 2017.

Officers arrived within seconds and initiated search and containment efforts.

A vehicle matching the suspect’s description fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit into New York before the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

A coordinated multi-agency search followed.

Through investigative work, Greenwich Police detectives identified Martinez as the suspect responsible for the 2017 robbery.

An arrest warrant was issued charging Martinez with three counts of robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver and larceny in the second degree.

Greenwich Police investigators traveled to Pennsylvania to extradite Martinez.

Martinez was transferred into Greenwich Police custody without incident and transported back to Greenwich, where he was processed on the outstanding charges.
