Wrong-way driver stopped on Interstate 91 in Dummerston

DUMMERSTON, VT — Vermont State Police stopped a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 91 on Nov. 24.

Troopers responded to numerous reports of the wrong-way driver near mile marker 24.4 in Westminster at 9:50 p.m.

Troopers safely stopped the vehicle near mile marker 14.6 in the northbound lane in Dummerston.

The operator was identified as Julie Anne Burch, 44, of Putney.

While speaking with Burch, troopers observed signs of impairment.

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing.

Burch was released with a citation to appear in Windham County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Dec. 9 at 8:30 a.m.

She faces charges of DUI refusal, gross negligent operation and reckless endangerment.
