Man arrested after pursuit in Cranston

CRANSTON, RI — A Barrington man faces multiple charges following a high-speed pursuit on Route 95 North.

Christopher Gillam, 48, of Barrington, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, refusal to submit to a chemical test, eluding law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit, and resisting arrest.

The arrest followed an E-911 call reporting an erratic operator.

Gillam was transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released with a notice to appear in Third Division District Court.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested Jeffrey Parenteau, 28, of Woonsocket, at 1:30 a.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant for contempt of court.

The warrant stemmed from an original charge of domestic violence and criminal violation of a no contact order, third offense, originating from the North Kingstown Police Department.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Route 138 East in Jamestown.

Parenteau was transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks, processed, and turned over to the North Kingstown Police Department.
