HARTLAND, VT — A box truck crashed through a guardrail and plunged into the Ottauquechee River on Interstate 91 north Saturday morning.
Vermont State Police dispatch received reports of the crash at approximately 7:03 a.m. near mile marker 66.4.
James Sseggwanyi, 44, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, was driving a 2020 Isuzu box truck northbound on I-91 when he lost control of the vehicle, according to police.
The truck crashed through the left side guardrail and exited the roadway before landing in the river.
Sseggwanyi did not report any injuries as a result of the crash.
The truck was totaled.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
The Hartland Fire Department, Department of Motor Vehicles, Agency of Transportation, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, Sabil and Sons Towing and Vermont State HAZMAT assisted at the scene.
