MANCHESTER, VT — A New Jersey man faces criminal charges after state police clocked him driving nearly twice the speed limit on U.S. Route 7.
A Vermont State Police trooper observed a vehicle traveling northbound near mile marker 30.0 at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Nov. 22.
The trooper determined the vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed well above the posted 55 mph limit.
Using doppler-sounding radar, the trooper confirmed the vehicle was traveling at 104 mph.
A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Jacob M. Kosakowski, 20, of Wallington, New Jersey.
Kosakowski was issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division, on Jan. 26 at 8 a.m.
He was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for violating Title 23, V.S.A. § 1004, which carries a waiver fee of $724 and 2 points.
