SYRACUSE, NY — The New York State Police Troop D Community Stabilization Unit has concluded a four-month investigation into a series of fraudulent transactions involving a Lowe’s store in Syracuse.
Police determined that Shaquille B. Muhammad, 32, of Syracuse, used his Lowe’s credit card to purchase more than $3,000 in merchandise over several days in January, then reported the purchases as unauthorized to his bank.
According to investigators, the bank issued a full refund to Muhammad’s account after he filed the false fraud report.
On November 20, Muhammad turned himself in at the State Police barracks in North Syracuse.
He was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, and falsifying business records in the first degree, a class E felony.
Muhammad was arraigned in Onondaga County CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
