NORTH TONAWANDA, NY — A 30-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a parked car and then a building on Thompson Street, according to North Tonawanda police.
At approximately 5:33 a.m. on November 21, a North Tonawanda Police officer observed a vehicle traveling on Thompson Street collide with a parked car in the parking lot of the police department.
Police said the vehicle then continued on and crashed into a nearby building.
As the officer approached, the driver, later identified as Alex Boehringer of North Tonawanda, attempted to reverse and flee but was unable to do so because the vehicle was stuck in the building.
Field sobriety testing was conducted, and Boehringer subsequently failed, authorities said.
A Drug Recognition Expert completed a drug influence evaluation and determined Boehringer was under the influence of drugs.
Boehringer was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, driving while ability impaired by drugs/combined effects, and various vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was arraigned in North Tonawanda City Court and released on his own recognizance in accordance with New York State Bail Reform laws.
