Man arrested after domestic incident in Harpersfield

HARPERSFIELD, NY — A Harpersfield man was arrested Saturday following a reported domestic dispute involving a child under the age of 16, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence in Harpersfield on Nov. 16 after a report of a domestic dispute in progress.

Following interviews with the victim, the suspect, and other individuals present, deputies determined that Michael Turim, 35, of Harpersfield, had engaged in a physical altercation while in the presence of a child.

Turim was charged with strangulation in the second degree, a class D violent felony, as well as assault in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, all class A misdemeanors under New York State Penal Law.

Turim was held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending centralized arraignment.
