CLARK, NJ — The Clark Police Department has charged Julian Torres, 21, of Linden with one count of second-degree robbery in connection with an incident at the Exxon Gas Station on Westfield Avenue.

Police said that, on October 4, a 2021 black Kia arrived at the gas station at approximately 3:36 p.m.

A passenger, described as wearing dark clothing and a mask, exited the vehicle and demanded money from the attendant.

According to the report, the suspect attempted to physically confront the attendant, who managed to break free and flee.

The suspect then took personal items belonging to the attendant from the booth before leaving the scene in the Kia.

Detective Bruce McDonald later recovered the vehicle, which had been abandoned in Woodbridge the same day.

Police said a year-long investigation determined the Kia was stolen in Roselle and used in the Clark robbery, as well as other crimes in Rahway and Edison.

Authorities noted the charge is an accusation, and Torres is presumed innocent unless convicted in court.
