Drug, firearm charges filed after search warrants executed in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Police executed multiple search and seizure warrants in Waterbury on Nov. 20 following ongoing complaints in the area, leading to two arrests and the recovery of drugs, cash, and a firearm.

According to the Waterbury Police Department, members of the Vice and Intelligence Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, and Auto Theft Task Force conducted operations beginning at around 10:00 a.m.

Police executed warrants at 71 Sullivan St., Apt. 4; 94 Charles St. (Lighters 2 Ashtrays Smoke Shop); the person of Steven Echevarria, 50, of Waterbury; and a gray/green BMW.

Officers seized approximately 60 grams of cocaine, 6.8 grams of fentanyl, 400 grams of marijuana, 107.8 grams of crack cocaine, a Springfield Armory 9mm handgun, and around $13,000 in cash.

Steven Echevarria was arrested and charged with operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and conspiracy to commit possession of 1/2 ounce or more of cocaine/cocaine in freebase form.

Ashlyn Johnson, 31, of Waterbury, was charged with theft of a firearm, operating a drug factory, unlawful storage of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
