PORTLAND, ME — A 75-year-old woman from Portland died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night on Franklin Street at the intersection of Marginal Way, according to Portland Police.
Police said the incident occurred at 7:07 p.m., when the woman was crossing Franklin Street and was hit by a car driven by a 48-year-old man, also from Portland.
Multiple witnesses told police the victim and others had crossed the road against the signal at the time of the crash.
The woman was transported to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later died.
No charges have been filed in the case.
Franklin Street between Marginal Way and Somerset Street was closed for about three hours during the incident.
