Man arrested on gun charges in Boston

BOSTON, MA — A 48-year-old man was arrested on firearm charges Tuesday night after officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at a bus terminal in Roxbury.

Officers assigned to District B-2 responded to the area of 25 Warren Street at about 8:11 p.m. on Nov. 18 for the report.

Transit Police provided Boston Police with a description of the suspect after an individual was observed with a firearm.

Officers located a person matching the description standing on one of the platforms inside the bus terminal.

Officers stopped the suspect and advised him of the reason for the stop.

A pat frisk was conducted, and a firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband.

Officers also recovered a folding knife and brass knuckles.

District detectives responded to process the evidence.

The firearm was determined to be a Bersa .380 with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.

Freddie Bates, of Boston, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, second offense; possession of a firearm without an FID card; and carrying a dangerous weapon.
