BOSTON, MA — Officers assigned to District D-4 made multiple shoplifting arrests and issued several summonses Wednesday evening as part of an ongoing initiative targeting retail theft in the South End.
At about 5 p.m., officers responded to 800 Boylston Street for a report of a larceny in progress at Lululemon.
Loss prevention staff told officers that three males were seen concealing multiple items inside the store and were observed entering the Alo store.
Officers placed two suspects into custody, but a third suspect attempted to flee the area.
Prudential Center Security advised officers of the third suspect’s location, and he was taken into custody.
The stolen merchandise was returned to the store.
The three juvenile male suspects were summonsed and charged with larceny under $1,200 and conspiracy out of Boston Juvenile Court.
At about 5:40 p.m., officers responded again to Lululemon for another larceny in progress.
Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of two juvenile females stealing inside the store.
Store employees observed an electronic security device on the floor of the changing room that the suspects had exited.
Officers stopped the two suspects as they were exiting the store and recovered stolen merchandise from Lululemon as well as merchandise from two other stores inside the mall.
The two female juveniles were summonsed out of Boston Juvenile Court and charged with larceny under $1,200, shoplifting by concealing merchandise and conspiracy.
One of the suspects was also charged with malicious destruction of property under $1,200 and unlawful deactivation or removal of theft detection device.
At about 6 p.m., a detective conducting a shoplifting operation at 326 Newbury Street observed a suspect enter The North Face store and remove a pair of slippers.
The suspect was seen placing the slippers on his feet and placing his other shoes in a bag.
The detective observed the suspect concealing more merchandise and exiting the store without paying.
The detective stopped the suspect as he was leaving the store, and additional units responded to the scene.
Anthony Craan, 43, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of larceny under $1,200, receiving stolen property under $1,200 and furnishing false identification information to law enforcement.
