Man arrested on drug charges in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — A traffic stop on Whitewood Road led to the arrest of a man on drug and motor vehicle charges.

Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force and Vice and Intelligence Unit attempted to stop a gold Honda operating with a misuse marker plate at approximately 11:28 a.m. on Nov. 18.

The operator, identified as Demetrious Hunter, 32, of Waterbury, attempted to evade officers and struck two police cruisers, according to police.

Hunter exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Officers seized drug paraphernalia, 11.3 grams of crack cocaine and 103 bags of heroin/fentanyl during the investigation.

Hunter had an active arrest warrant out of Waterbury.

He was charged with unsafe backing, reckless driving, misuse of marker plate, operating a drug factory, failure to display tint sticker, interfering with a police officer, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and illegal operation of a motor vehicle without insurance.
