Two men arrested after assault at Traffic Tribunal in Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI — State Police arrested two Providence men on assault charges following an incident at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal on Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers arrested Diondre Watson, 26, of Providence, at 2:19 p.m. on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Watson was transported to State Police headquarters for processing and later released by a justice of the peace with a future Third District Court date.

At the same time, troopers arrested Jason Marte, 24, of Providence, on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Marte was transported to State Police headquarters for processing and then taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions men’s intake facility, where he was held overnight as a bail and probation violator pending morning presentment at Third District Court.

Both arrests resulted from troopers responding to the Traffic Tribunal after Capitol Police advised the subjects were in custody following an assault.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested Richard Pezzuco, 60, of Johnston, at 12:30 a.m. on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle.

The arrest followed a motor vehicle accident on Route 295 North in Johnston.

Pezzuco was transported to State Police headquarters, where he was processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a notice to appear in Third District Court.
