RAMAPO, NY — A 47-year-old Spring Valley man has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery and assault that occurred Monday evening on East Hickory Street in the Hillcrest area.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Nov. 17.
Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who reported she had been approached by a masked male wearing dark clothing.
The suspect threatened her with a knife, robbed her, and fled the area.
The victim sustained serious injuries during the attack and was transported to a local hospital.
The Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division identified the suspect through their investigation and subsequently took him into custody.
He has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, robbery in the first degree, stalking in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.
The defendant was transported to the Ramapo Police Department and processed on the charges.
He was arraigned in Ramapo Town Court at approximately 2:45 p.m.
On the attempted murder charge, the judge set bail at $500,000 cash or $1,000,000 secured bond or $1,500,000 partially secured.
On the burglary charge, bail was set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 secured bond or $1,000,000 partially secured.
