Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Linden

LINDEN, NJ — A 67-year-old man remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a busy highway.

Officers responded to West Edgar Road near the intersection with Smith Street on reports of a serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at about 5:35 p.m. on November 17.

Initial reports indicate that the pedestrian was struck by a black 2019 Honda Accord while he attempted to cross eight lanes of traffic on U.S. 1 & 9 southbound.

The pedestrian, a Linden resident, was seriously injured in the crash.

He was treated on scene and transported to Newark University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Accord, a 20-year-old Edison resident, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau.
