THOMASTON, CT — Police and state agencies conducted compliance checks at four tobacco and vape shops on Nov. 14, resulting in cannabis seizures, tobacco sale violations and business closures.
The Thomaston Police Department worked with representatives from the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Drug Control Division, Department of Revenue Services, Department of Labor, Gaming Division and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Enforcement and Prevention Program.
An underage individual assisting the agencies attempted to purchase tobacco and vape products at the locations.
At Thomaston Smoke and Vape on South Main Street, police seized 5.43 pounds equivalents of cannabis.
The Department of Labor issued a stop work order for labor violations, closing the business.
At Kings Cigar Smoke and Vape on Waterbury Road, the Department of Revenue Services issued an infraction for sale of tobacco to a minor.
No other violations were found at that location.
At Smokers Mart on Watertown Road, police seized 6.48 pounds equivalents of cannabis.
The Department of Revenue Services issued an infraction for sale of a vape product to a person under 21 years old.
The Department of Gaming located violations at that location.
The Department of Labor issued a stop work order for labor violations, closing the business.
At Smokers Choice LLC on Main Street, the Department of Revenue Services issued an infraction for sale of tobacco to a minor.
The Department of Labor issued a stop work order, closing the business.
Police will continue investigating Smokers Mart and Thomaston Smoke and Vape.
