2 arrested on firearm charges after foot chase in Dorchester

BOSTON, MA — Two 18-year-old Boston men were arrested on multiple firearm offenses following a foot chase in Dorchester on November 16.

Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 97 Woodledge Street at about 2:50 p.m. for a report of individuals using drugs in the rear of the address.

Upon arrival, officers observed one of the suspects sitting on a scooter with a bulge near his waistband area.

The suspect turned on the scooter and attempted to flee, almost striking an officer.

The suspect fell off the scooter and a struggle ensued as he began reaching towards his waistband.

Prentice Jones was seen exiting the rear of 170 Howard Avenue and began recording officers.

Tamerat Edelstein-Rosenburg reached into a fanny pack with his right hand and threw a firearm towards Jones.

Jones picked up the firearm, and both suspects jumped over a fence in attempts to flee.

A foot pursuit ensued, and both suspects were apprehended.

District detectives responded to the scene and processed the recovered evidence.

The firearm was determined to be a ghost gun with one round in the chamber and twenty rounds in the magazine.

Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm and defacement of a firearm serial number.

Edelstein-Rosenburg was additionally charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, resist arrest and trespassing.
