LANCASTER, NH — A Texas woman faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop and leading officers on a high-speed chase.

Shawnda Lewis, 46, of Houston, was initially stopped by Lancaster police on Nov. 16 and cited for operating after suspension.

Officers later observed Lewis driving again at a high rate of speed on Route 135.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Lewis accelerated in an attempt to elude them, according to police.

Officers pursued Lewis on Route 135 into Dalton and radioed New Hampshire State Police and Littleton police.

Littleton police set up spike strips near the town line.

As the vehicle crossed into Littleton, a Littleton officer took over the pursuit and Lewis continued to refuse to stop, police said.

Spike strips were successfully deployed and Lewis came to a stop.

Lewis was taken into custody without incident and transported to Littleton police headquarters.

Lancaster officers charged Lewis with class A misdemeanor disobeying an officer, class B misdemeanor reckless operation, and violation-level operating after suspension, yellow line violation and speed.

Lewis was held without bail and transported to the Grafton County House of Corrections pending a hearing in Lancaster District Court.
