Two injured in collision on Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, NY — Two pickup trucks collided Thursday morning on Seneca Turnpike in front of 8170 Seneca Turnpike, sending both drivers to the hospital.

New Hartford Police and the New Hartford Fire Department responded to the crash during the rainy morning commute.

Police found two heavily damaged vehicles and two injured people upon arrival.

Earl Clipston, 80, of Clinton, was exiting the parking lot of Charlie’s Place Diner when his pickup truck pulled into the path of an eastbound pickup truck operated by Trey Lohr, 33, of Utica, according to police.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Wynn Hospital with multiple non-life threatening injuries.

Seneca Turnpike was initially closed at Woods Highway while police investigated the scene and tow companies removed the vehicles that were blocking the road.

Clipston was issued a uniform traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way.

Lohr was issued a uniform traffic ticket for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
