Man arrested on child exploitation charges in Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — A 46-year-old man was arrested on child sexual exploitation charges following an investigation by state police.

Christopher L. Patterson, of Carthage, was arrested Nov. 6 and charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

The charges stem from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant executed in connection with the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Troop D Computer Crime Unit, Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Carthage, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Albany.

Patterson was arraigned in Watertown City Court, where he was released to Jefferson County Probation for pre-trial supervision.
