Driver arrested on weapons charges in Haddon Township

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and the arrest of a driver with outstanding warrants Tuesday night.

A Haddon Township officer conducted the traffic stop at approximately 8:44 p.m. after observing an illegal turn at Collings Avenue and Crescent Boulevard.

The driver was identified as Alexander Zamot, who was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest.

With assistance from Oaklyn Police Department K9 Officer Greathead and his K9 partner, Blake, officers conducted a search of the vehicle.

A loaded .38 caliber Taurus 856 revolver was discovered hidden under the driver’s seat.

Zamot was taken into custody and charged with possession of a handgun without a permit and certain persons not to have weapons.

He was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing.
