Trooper injured in crash on I-89 in Georgia

GEORGIA, VT — A Vermont State Police trooper was injured when a tractor-trailer slid into her cruiser on Interstate 89 southbound.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. near the bridge at exit 18 at mile marker 107.

Trooper Charlotte Hartman, 31, of Swanton, was responding to another crash during a snowstorm when the incident occurred.

Mikhail Nikulin, 53, of Saint-Hubert, Quebec, was operating a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer unit behind Hartman’s cruiser.

Nikulin lost control on the icy road surface and slid into the rear of Hartman’s 2021 Ford Explorer cruiser.

The tractor-trailer also made contact with two other vehicles as it slid.

Hartman sustained minor injuries and was treated at Northwestern Medical Center before being released.

She has since returned to work.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
