Man arrested on robbery charge in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing power tools from a Home Depot and threatening store employees with a box cutter.

Isuel Cordero, of Waterbury, was taken into custody on Benedict Street following the incident at 9:19 a.m. on Nov. 12.

Loss prevention staff at Home Depot reported that Cordero entered the store and concealed two Ryobi drills in his backpack before exiting.

When store employees approached Cordero outside, he pushed staff members and brandished a box cutter before fleeing on foot.

No employees were injured during the incident.

Police later located and apprehended Cordero, but the stolen drills, valued at $659.98, were not recovered.

Cordero was charged with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny.
