NASSAU, NY — State Police have identified the driver killed in a head-on collision on State Route 20 as Patricia A. Balcom, 80, of Chatham.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 10 when an eastbound vehicle crossed into the opposing lane and struck a westbound vehicle head-on.
Balcom, who was driving the westbound vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries and remains hospitalized in stable condition.
State Route 20 was closed between State Route 66 and Kinderhook Lane until approximately 6 p.m. for the investigation and collision reconstruction.
The investigation is ongoing.
