BOSTON, MA — A woman faces multiple charges following an attempted armed carjacking and robbery in the Blue Hill Avenue area Tuesday evening.

Officers assigned to District B-3 arrested Jenisteen Tomlinson, 31, of Boston, after responding to a report of an armed robbery near 1102 Blue Hill Avenue at approximately 5:23 p.m.

Police said Tomlinson attempted to steal a vehicle while the victim was working on its brakes.

The victim was working on the vehicle’s brakes when Tomlinson entered the driver’s seat, according to police.

When the victim tried to remove her, Tomlinson attempted to drive off and struck another vehicle, police said.

Tomlinson then exited the vehicle and reportedly swung a knife at the victim before fleeing toward Ashton Street.

Officers located Tomlinson a short time later near 67 Woodrow Avenue and took her into custody without incident.

Tomlinson is charged with armed carjacking and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the attempted carjacking.

Police said Tomlinson was also involved in a separate incident minutes earlier at 1112 Blue Hill Avenue.

In that incident, the suspect entered a convenience store, displayed a knife and attempted to steal items, police said.

When confronted, she allegedly waved the knife at the victim before fleeing toward Ansel Road.

Tomlinson faces additional charges of armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the convenience store incident.

She is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
