Pedestrian struck, killed in Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on High Ridge Road on Saturday night.

Nelly Ruiz, 54, of Stamford, was crossing High Ridge Road from the east side to the west side in the area of 996 High Ridge Road when she was struck by a 2016 Nissan Altima at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The Nissan was traveling southbound on High Ridge Road and was operated by a 30-year-old Stamford resident.

Ruiz was transported to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

She was pronounced dead in the early morning of Nov. 9.

The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating the crash.

Officers Lindsey Yanicky and Cory Fisher are investigating.
