Single-vehicle crash reported in West Rutland

WEST RUTLAND, VT — A Fair Haven woman lost control of her vehicle on icy roads November 11, causing her Jeep to strike a guardrail on U.S. Route 4.

Bonnie Pyenta, 47, of Fair Haven, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 4 near mile marker 13 at approximately 8:23 a.m. when the crash occurred.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to the scene at the twin bridges in West Rutland.

According to the investigation, Pyenta was navigating a slight right-hand curve when her 2021 Jeep Cherokee lost traction on the icy roadway.

The vehicle collided with the north side guardrails before coming to rest on the south side of the road.

Pyenta was wearing her seat belt and reported no injuries.

The Jeep sustained damage to its driver’s side and lost its driver’s front tire.

Snow was falling at the time of the crash, and road conditions were icy.

No citation was issued.
