Man arrested on robbery charge in Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY, MA — A Lowell man faces multiple charges following a robbery Saturday afternoon on Main Street.

Alphonso Walker Jr., 28, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery, larceny from a person, two counts of resisting arrest, threatening to commit a crime and a warrant.

Tewksbury police responded to the area of 95 Main St. at approximately 1:22 p.m. Saturday for a report of an unarmed robbery.

A reporting party told police that Walker, who was known to him, took his jacket, iPhone and other belongings during an argument and threatened to kill him.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area using K9 units and the Tewksbury Police Drone Unit.

Walker was located hiding in the area of 85 Main St.

He was taken into custody following a brief struggle.

The jacket, phone and other belongings were recovered.

Walker was arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
