RED HOOK, NY — A Red Hook man faces aggravated driving while intoxicated charges after a crash involving a commercial wood chipper Friday afternoon.

Dylan R. Silveria, 33, of Red Hook, was arrested following a property damage accident on Budds Corners Road at approximately 2:10 p.m. Nov. 7.

Police said Silveria was driving a 2002 Ford truck northbound on Budds Corners Road with a commercial wood chipper in tow when the truck went off the roadway, causing the chipper to detach and roll over.

A Red Hook police officer came upon the accident scene and determined Silveria was intoxicated by alcohol.

Silveria was transported to the police station for processing and submitted to a breath test.

The test showed Silveria had a blood alcohol content of .33 percent, more than four times the legal limit.

He was charged with aggravated DWI and common law DWI, both misdemeanors, as well as traffic infractions.

Silveria was released on his own recognizance with a future court date.
