House fire extinguished in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, NY — The Long Beach Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 500 block of East Hudson Street at 5:32 a.m. Thursday.

Assistant Chief Hadrick Ray arrived on scene within three minutes and transmitted a working fire.

Fire was located in the basement and first and second floors of the residence.

Multiple hose lines were stretched to extinguish the fire, and truck companies conducted extensive overhaul to check for remaining hot spots.

The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes.

One occupant was evaluated by EMS at the scene.

The fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal – County of Nassau, Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad and the Long Beach Police Department.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist the occupants.

All operations were under the command of Assistant Chiefs DiGiacomo, Reinhard and Ray.
