WEATHERSFIELD, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 northbound near mile marker 52.5 on Nov. 8 at approximately 6:12 a.m.
Police said James A. Barker, 20, of Claremont, New Hampshire, was traveling northbound at a speed too fast for existing roadway conditions and was distracted while driving.
Barker lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, police said.
The 2009 Mazda Mazda6 overturned and came to rest on its roof on the shoulder of the roadway.
Barker sustained minor injuries and declined transport by emergency medical services.
The vehicle sustained total damage.
Interstate 91 remained open during the investigation, though traffic was slowed for a short period while the vehicle was removed.
Road conditions were wet and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.
The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Ascutney Fire Department and Golden Cross Ambulance.
The vehicle was removed by Legendary Towing.
