AUBURN, NY — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman following an investigation into retail theft at a local Walmart.
Jennifer R. Smith, 39, of Auburn, was taken into custody on Nov. 5 after deputies determined she stole multiple items from the store over several dates and sold the property at a local pawn shop, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Smith was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, and three counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, also class E felonies.
She was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and arraigned in Auburn City Court, where she was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
Smith is scheduled to appear in Auburn City Court on Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m.
