Man arrested on shoplifting charge in Boston

BOSTON, MA — A 54-year-old man was arrested Nov. 6 after allegedly stealing more than $1,000 worth of clothing from a store on Boylston Street.

Officers from District 4 received information that a known shoplifter was inside a store at 800 Boylston St.

The suspect was described as a Black male, about 50 years old, wearing a plaid hat, glasses, beige sweater and jeans and concealing merchandise inside a black backpack.

Efrain Rivera, of Boston, exited the store without paying and fled on foot toward Huntington Avenue.

Officers stopped Rivera outside the store and recovered stolen clothing valued at $1,140 from his backpack.

Rivera is charged with shoplifting and common and notorious thief due to several prior guilty convictions of larceny.

He will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
