MERIDEN, CT — Police have arrested two men in connection with a series of nine armed robberies that occurred between September and November.
Corey Alexis, 41, of Meriden, was apprehended as he prepared to commit another armed robbery at a local convenience store, according to the Meriden Police Department.
Alexis was found in possession of a BB gun and charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery in the first degree and carrying a dangerous weapon.
He was held on $1 million bond, with additional charges expected.
Police said five of the robberies involved a suspect armed with what appeared to be a firearm.
Four additional robberies were committed by a suspect who used a knife while targeting two local gas stations, police said.
On Nov. 6, officers responded to 182 Colony Street for another armed robbery and located a suspect shortly after he fled the area.
The suspect was identified as Guardy Roman, 32, of Meriden.
Roman was charged with robbery in the first degree and larceny in the fifth degree.
He was held on $1 million bond, with additional charges expected.
The arrests followed a multi-agency investigation and surveillance operation.
The Meriden Police Department was assisted by the Middletown Police Department, Connecticut State Police, Watertown Police Department, West Hartford Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
