LAWRENCE, MA — Two people were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on Essex Street and Broadway on Oct. 22.
Members of the Lawrence Police Department’s Early Nights Patrol Division stopped a vehicle after a registration check revealed the license plates did not match the vehicle.
Officers observed both occupants making unusual movements inside the vehicle as they approached.
During the investigation, officers found a large glassine bag containing a white powdery substance on the operator and a second clear bag with a rocky, powdery substance inside the vehicle.
Both substances were believed to be cocaine, a Class B controlled substance.
The seized narcotics had a combined weight of over 300 grams.
Both occupants were charged with trafficking Class B (200+ grams).
The operator was additionally charged with possession of Class B drugs, attaching wrong motor vehicle plates and failing to stop/yield.
Both individuals were transported to the police station for processing.
