Man crashes into DOT equipment in Hancock work zone

HANCOCK, NY — A 90-year-old New Jersey man struck a state-owned skid steer in a construction zone on State Highway 17 on Nov. 5.

Mohamed A. Rawoof of Mahwah, New Jersey, was traveling west on State Highway 17 when he struck the skid steer owned by the New York State Department of Transportation at approximately 12:30 p.m., according to New York State Police at Deposit.

The skid steer was being operated by a 44-year-old DOT employee in the left lane of a marked construction zone.

Both Rawoof and the DOT employee were transported by Hancock EMS to Wilson Hospital for what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
