Man wanted on animal cruelty charge in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Police are searching for a man accused of striking a dog in an incident captured on video.

Javier Mandujano-Aguilar, 39, of Waterbury, is wanted on an active arrest warrant for cruelty to animals.

Police were made aware of the video on Oct. 21.

The video shows Mandujano-Aguilar punching a black and white dog in the nose with a closed fist and lifting the dog by its collar, causing visible distress, according to police.

The dog was treated by a local veterinarian for nose injuries, bloodshot eyes and abrasions to the paws.
