Woman arrested on contempt, harassment charges in Canisteo

CANISTEO, NY — A woman was arrested on charges of criminal contempt and harassment following an investigation into a violation of an order of protection.

Rachel Depew, 37, of Hornell, was taken into custody on Oct. 30 on West Academy Street.

The Canisteo Police Department received a complaint on Oct. 23 regarding a violation of an order of protection.

Police investigated the complaint and confirmed a violation of an active order of protection had occurred.

Depew was charged with one count of second-degree criminal contempt and one count of second-degree harassment.

She was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The City of Hornell Police Department assisted in the investigation.

The case will be heard in Steuben County Court.
