SPRINGFIELD, MA — Springfield police seized two illegal motorized bikes during an off-highway vehicle enforcement detail Saturday.
Officers conducting the anti-OHV patrol observed two adult males riding a mini dirt bike and a moped around 2:30 p.m.
Police located both suspects after they stopped on Florence Street.
Neither bike was registered or insured, and neither rider had an active driver’s license, according to police.
The moped and dirt bike were seized.
The riders, ages 19 and 21, were cited and will receive a criminal summons to court.
Police said off-highway vehicles are illegal on city streets and have led to serious injuries and deaths to riders.
Throughout the day, officers conducted several directed patrols in parks and follow-up investigations related to suspected illegal dirt bike or OHV activity on city streets.
